Wynkyn de Worde Menu
Founded in 1957, the Wynkyn de Worde Society is ‘dedicated to excellence in all aspects of printing and the various stages of its creation, production, finishing and dissemination’. The Society gathers for three luncheons each year at Stationers’ Hall, and for two evening events The Art Workers’ Guild – each time with an invited speaker.
During 2023 I was Chair of the Society, and had the privilege of inviting my own set of speakers to talk to the Society about their work. For the final luncheon of the year, book cover designers Jon Gray and Jamie Keenan came to talk to us about their work, with a talk entitled ‘The 10 Disputable Theories of Cover Design’.
The Society always creates printed keepsakes for members to take away from the events, and for Jon & Jamie’s talk I designed a keepsake in the form of a book jacket.
The keepsake features Jon’s initials on the back cover, and Jamie’s on the front cover (printed from woodblock letters), with their biographies on the accompanying flaps.
