Penguin Classics comic book covers

Penguin_classic_comic

Quite liking this set of Penguin Classics that have been illustrated covers by some of the kingpins of comic book art.

Kerouac's Dharma Bums is our favourite of the set, by Norwegian cartoonist Jason.

The rest, from left to right, are Rashomon by Yoshihiro Tatsumi, Cold Comfort Farm by New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast, Lady Chatterley's Lover by Canadian Chester Brown, and Candide by Chris Ware, the guy behind Jimmy Corrigan.

You can find them on the Penguin Classics site.

Though perhaps someone should remind Penguin that these comic book artists don't aim at kids. The copy on their site reads like something out of Smash Hits: "We've got some of the best graphic artists to design our jackets this month. They're really fun and rather great."

And that's it.

Umm, underselling yourselves much?
