Another couple of tasty bits from the Ephemera Society Fair.

These are two letterheads we found amongst a whole box of print samples from a printer in Carlisle, dating from around 1930 to 1940.

We love the ornate detailing on the Bateman & Son letter, and the collision of so many typefaces in such a small space. It's bonkers, but heck, it works.

The Robot Salesmen one is just fantastic. The name alone is genius. The logo though; it's a work of art – he looks like some kind of psychotically demented robot-knight hybrid, ready to destroy the world. We'd love to know what this company actually did. And, though you can't see this from the scan, the whole thing is printed thermographically, so the ink is shiny and stands slightly proud from the paper. It's the future, man.

We were also taken by the fact that these were Quarto size sheets, 8" x 10"; makes a refreshing change from the ubiquitous A4.
