There's a great vibe in London at the moment. The moaning and doom-mongering has morphed in the last few days into excitement and anticipation. There's a real feeling of energy out on the streets, and not in a looting or rioting way either.

Yes we're in the middle of a hideous recession, but heck, we've already paid for a giant party, so we may as well enjoy it.

So, we just wanted to say good luck to all the competitors, to all the volunteers, and to all the folk putting on the cultural stuff that envelopes the games.

Now, if we can just remember to get the flags right this time...
